Major League Baseball players are wearing olive green, Armed Forces-inspired caps and socks for all games played the weekend of May 15-17, 2026.
The caps are being worn in recognition of Armed Forces Day, which in the United States is on the third Saturday each May. The holiday was established by President Harry Truman and first celebrated in 1950, as a way for citizens to thank active military members for their service.

This year’s cap design features olive green over the entire cap — crown, visor, and button. Each team’s usual cap logo is featured on the crown, recoloured in lighter green, darker green, and white. On the right side of the 29 U.S. teams is the American flag, positioned with the stars up front to give the effect of the flag flying as the wearer charges forward; the Toronto Blue Jays are wearing the Canadian flag in this spot.
On the visor, near the crown, is the team’s name written out in dark green lettering. Inside the cap, the inner crown is a military-style camouflage pattern. The under visor is black with six stars for six branches of the military on U.S. team caps; the Blue Jays have three maple leaves in this spot.
In addition to the cap and camouflage socks, each player will wear a special “Armed Forces Day” patch on the front of their jersey during games played on Saturday, May 16, only. This patch features the MLB logo placed inside a red circle with “ARMED FORCES DAY” and the date “MAY 16, 2026” written within it.

Major League Baseball says that “100% of the licensed royalties from the sale of Armed Forces Day On-Field Authentic Collection apparel is donated to MLB Charities to support military programs.” This year, the programs that will benefit from this initiative are Blue Star Families, SkyHope, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors(TAPS), Travis Manion Foundation, United Service Organizations (USO), and Wounded Warrior Project.
Armed Forces Day has been recognized by the league with special on-field caps each season since 2019. Prior to that, military-inspired caps were instead worn during Memorial Day weekend in the U.S., which is observed each year on the last Monday in May. Since the change in 2019, teams playing on Memorial Day instead wear a special poppy patch on their jerseys.
