Sinner has cruised into the final apart from his tough semi-final while Ruud has only dropped one set on his way to a first Rome final.

Ruud will need to elevate his returning game if he wants to keep himself in the match and avoid a humiliating result just like he suffered to Sinner in Rome last year.
Playing Styles and Prediction
Sinner overcame his toughest test yet as he defeated Medvedev to reach a second consecutive Rome final.
The Italian will be hoping to continue his Masters 1000 winning streak as he bids to complete the Career Golden Masters.
Ahead of the final, Sinner dismissed physical concerns as he bids for history on home soil.
“I struggled a bit to sleep this night,” Sinner admitted to the ATP website after his semi-final went into a second day due to rain on the Friday.
“It has been a situation I haven’t been in yet, where you need to finish when you’re nearly over with the match. You sleep, you don’t know what’s coming out the next day. I think it’s normal that not every day we feel 100 per cent. I tried to play with the best possible energy I have. Yesterday brought me to a point where I was up today. Today I’m very happy that I finished it.
“I knew before the match it could be very physical. First set I played really well, then the conditions became very, very heavy. It was tough to get through. But in the same time I tried to understand what’s working best. I tried to play with the best energy possible. Yesterday was very tough.
“Today everything can happen because you start again from zero basically. Obviously the position where I’ve been in was much better with [a] break up. When we played today [it] was sunny, so different conditions.
“I’m happy that I got over the line.”
Awaiting Sinner in the final is Ruud who is into the Rome final for the first time after an impressive route to Sunday’s showpiece event.
However, Ruud doesn’t have the best record against Sinner and will look to avoid last year’s thrashing to seal more Masters 1000 glory.
Ahead of the final Ruud is trying to approach the final like any other match and is hoping he can capitalise on a bad at the office for the Italian.
“I just have to try to approach it as any other match,” Ruud stated to the ATP website.
“Try not to think about the big wave in front, kind of with all the momentum he’s building, all the confidence and the records that he’s building and breaking. At the end of the day, he’s human. I have to try to think that way as much as I can. Last year, I was blown out of the court by him. We will both remember it. I hope that’s not the case [this time].
“I will try to stay in my lane, stay focused on the things I’m doing well. I know that against him, you have to raise your level two or three times to hang with him.
“I got off to a good start in the tournament and built some confidence from there. I think the match with [Jiri] Lehecka that I won in the third round was building momentum and confidence for me. From there, I’ve been trying to focus on the things that went well there and keep it going, improve even more if I can.
“Every day, I felt a bit better and better. The couple of sets against [Karen] Khachanov and today [against Luciano Darderi] are some of the best I’ve felt on court in a long time. So that’s a good feeling.”
Sinner will continue his impressive serving as he will use the powerful forehand to pin Ruud behind the baseline.
Meanwhile, Ruud will use the backhand to work the angles and will extend the rallies in order to test the Italian’s fitness.
A confident start is needed from Ruud and he will need to maintain belief he can win the match at any point given Sinner’s recent fatigue.
However, Sinner should have enough quality to seal a historic Rome title ahead of the second Grand Slam of the season.
Prediction: Sinner in straight sets.
