Nicole Kidman’s support for Deborra-Lee Furness following their respective shock splits has been revealed by an insider.
After Kidman split from her ex, Keith Urban, last year, the Hollywood star turned to her closest friends for support, and now an insider has revealed that she’s been offering Furness the same kind of friendship following her split from Hugh Jackman.
“Nicole is firmly Team Deb,” an insider told Naughty But Nice’s Rob Shuter.
“She believes Deb was deeply hurt by how everything unfolded. Nicole isn’t interested in pretending otherwise just because Hugh showed up with a new woman on his arm.”
“There’s no doubt Nicole took complete control of her divorce and came out of it triumphantly,” the source said.
“She can’t bear to see her dear friend suffer any more than she has to. She’s doing everything she can to get Deb back in charge.”
The insider went on to reveal that Kidman is helping to persuade Furness that she should be gearing up to jump back into the dating pool in the near future.
“They’re leaning on each other and with Nicole already booting up her dating life, it’s hard for Deb to not feel encouraged,” the insider added.
“She’s still nervous about taking that leap, but Nicole’s one of the key friends in her life helping her take that step.”
Furness is reportedly a “top priority” in Kidman’s close circle of friends, especially during a period of time when the Force Of Nature is hoping to eventually find a way to forgive Jackman and reform some kind of friendship with him.
Deb remains Nicole’s top priority when it comes to close friendships right now, though insiders say the actress is quietly hopeful she can one day repair her once-cherished bond with Hugh Jackman, 57.
“She’s not ready to start playing nice with Hugh’s new girlfriend. Not yet anyway. It’s still too raw and way too soon,” the insider added.
“But she is hoping that things between Deb and Hugh will settle down over time, and she doesn’t have to exclude him from her world for too long.”
Meanwhile, Furness was recently seen meeting with a top publisher in New York City to shop a “bold, emotional memoir about love, identity, and starting over”.
“She was all smiles, but it looked serious,” a publishing insider, who allegedly saw Furness leaving a major publisher’s building in Midtown, told British journalist Rob Shuter.
“There were sample pages, lots of notes — it had the energy of a book deal negotiation,” the source added.
“She’s reclaiming her voice,” Furness’s pal told Shuter. “She spent years being known as Hugh’s wife. Now she wants to be known for her truth.”
