The Eastern Conference Final pits two teams on the opposite side of the spectrum this postseason. Few things are more appealing.

The Hurricanes have been hockey’s best watch during the NHL playoffs, sweeping aside the Senators and Flyers in four games apiece. Rod Brind’Amour’s side looks the sport’s most effective machine ahead of the series — its third ECF appearance in five seasons.

The Canadiens, meanwhile, have found success in a different way. Martin St. Louis‘ bunch endured stiff challenges from the Lightning and Sabres, both of whom fired off endless shots at Montreal‘s target in their respective Game 7s. And yet, they survived, benefitting from not one but two Alex Newhook series clinchers.

Carolina has the might. But the Canadiens’ flair for the dramatic cannot be ignored, especially not as the postseason nears its crescendo.
