Newcastle veteran Dane Gagai has saved himself $1800 after a successful trip to the NRL judiciary to battle his sanction for a tackle on Titans centre AJ Brimson.
In the sixth minute of the game, the Titans had already stamped their mark on the scoreboard and were looking to extend their lead when Gagai laid his eyes on Brimson.
Brimson was looking to make a break down the edge off the back of a slick shift down the line by his teammates, but Gagai latched onto his body and brought him down.

Brimson landed on the turf in an awkward position as Gagai held onto his legs.
The pair both returned to their feet with little issue and play continued.

“That is a good battle out on the edge between Brimson and Gagai,” Fox League reporter Jake Duke said in commentary.
Newcastle went on to win the Magic Round match 36-12.
Gagai was in no mood to accept the $1800 fine that followed for dangerous contact, instead confirming he and the Titans would fight it.
Had he failed his plea, Gagai might have been dealt a match ban.
The NRL confirmed on Tuesday that he had been cleared of the charge.
Gagai will return with the Knights in round 13 to face the Eels off the back of a bye.
