Today’s Karl Stefanovic is reportedly planning to enlist his daughter, Willow, in his media empire, with the hope that “the next generation of Stefanovics” will follow in his footsteps.
The Channel Nine star, who recently signed a major deal with radio giant ARN Media, is said to be looking at opportunities for his 20-year-old daughter, having been impressed by her “star quality”.
The 21-year-old model, whom Karl shares with his ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn, is currently studying fashion journalism at the University of the Arts London.
“Willow left for London a few years ago as a wide-eyed teen with big dreams,” a source told Woman’s Day.
“She’s been daddy’s little girl for all her life, so for Karl to see her so poised and full of charm made him so proud.
“He’s been busy exploring new opportunities on top of his already successful podcast, and there’s talk he’s keen to help Willow once she graduates.”
The Karl Stefanovic Show host will reportedly “do anything to help his daughter reach her dreams” and ensure his children “get the same chances he did”.
The insider predicted Karl will recruit his daughter for one of his future projects, “especially if it involves fashion”.
On Tuesday, it was confirmed Stefanovic has joined forces with Eddie McGuire for The Long Weekend radio show.
Starting on June 19, the new three-hour programme will broadcast live across Australia on the Gold Network on Fridays from 12pm.
It will also be live-streamed on iHeart, and available to watch back on 9Now and Stan.
“Since I was born, I’ve been a student of radio and announcers. The intimacy of the medium is powerful,” the 51-year-old said.
“Working with Eddie makes it even more exciting for me. We’ve been friends for a long time.
“We are both ready to disrupt the status quo, and let me tell you, we’ll have plenty of fun along the way.”
The Nine Network praised Stefanovic and McGuire as “great broadcasters” and said it is looking forward to showcasing The Long Weekend when it launches.
Nine also confirmed Stefanovic and McGuire’s respective commitments with the network will remain unchanged.
The Today show host has repeatedly fuelled rumours he is set to leave Nine when his $3 million contract expires at the end of this year.
In January, he shocked fans when he launched his self-funded podcast, The Karl Stefanovic Show.
