Jenelle Evans Has to Pay Exorbitant Amount of Money to Disgraced Ex-Husband originally appeared on Parade.
Former Teen Mom stars Jenelle Evansand David Eason have officially settled their divorce — but Evans has to pony up more than $30,000 to her disgraced ex-husband.
According to court documents obtained by The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, Evans — who left Eason in 2024 after a series of troubling incidents — will have to pay her ex exactly $33,450.52 in cash. The money will be sent in installments — “no less than $4,778.65” per month, according to the paperwork. The cash will allegedly go to paying Eason’s lawyer.
Longtime MTV viewers were stunned at the amount of money Jenelle is forced to pay her ex-husband, with many Redditors quipping that she must have represented herself in court in order to pay Eason that much money.
As for Evans’ reaction to the outcome of their divorce, she told Us Weekly on Monday, August 12, that “even though I paid for the majority of our assets, they had to be divided regardless,” noting that North Carolina is a “50/50” state. The reality star also told the outlet that she doesn’t think “a lot of people put that into perspective when getting married, and they definitely should. Prenups should be more accepted into society in my opinion.”
To say that Evans, 33, and Eason, 37, had a rocky marriage is to put it lightly. Over the eight years they were married, the 16 and Pregnant alum called 9-1-1 in 2018 claiming her then-husband cracked her collarbone. One year later, Eason admitted to shooting and killing the couple’s dog after he nipped at their young daughter Ensley.
In 2023, after gaining custody back of her eldest son, Jace, the then 13-year-old ran away from the family’s North Carolina home twice. Per Jace’s grandmother (and Jenelle’s mom) Barbara Evans’ report to police, Jace told her that Eason had attacked him. Eason was subsequently charged with misdemeanor child abuse and felony strangulation.
While Eason has since moved on with girlfriend Kenleigh Heatwole, Jenelle — who is also mom to 11-year-old son Kaiser — threw herself a divorce party in New York City in June.
