Deborra-Lee Furness has requested to meet with her Wolverine star ex-husband Hugh Jackman and his new girlfriend, three years after their messy separation, according to a source.
The long-time Hollywood power couple announced their separation after 27-years of marriage in a joint statement in 2023.
One year after the finalisation of their divorce in 2025, Jackman went public with his new partner, American actress Sutton Foster.
Furness has been open about how challenging this chapter has been, and a source has claimed the actress has now requested to meet with the new lovebirds in an effort to find some “closure”.
A well-placed insider told New Idea that while watching Foster and Jackman parade around together and share their newfound love with the world has been “incredibly painful and humiliating”, she is ready to move on.
“For the longest time, Deb swore off the idea of even being in the same room as Sutton,” the source said.
“Watching Hugh and Sutton parade around the city, openly flaunting their romance and mingling with all the same people they used to socialise with as a couple, is incredibly painful and humiliating.
“But at this point it feels like something she needs to check off her list, if only to put an end to the awkwardness… also so she can speak her truth.”
The source said that Furness did not wish to open old wounds, but, instead, aims to put the past behind her.
“This isn’t about Deb being angry or wanting to read Sutton the riot act. It’s about closure,” the source said.
The source said while the request came as a shock to Jackman and Foster, they are open to the invitation so the air can be cleared once and for all.
The new couple recently appeared loved-up at the Met Gala, which Jackman had attended with Furness in previous years.
In the short time since they became public, the pair have shared several public displays of affection, which reports have suggested has been hard for Furness.
“It might be easier to take if Hugh and Sutton weren’t constantly all over each other,” the source said.
Jackman and Foster first crossed paths publicly in 2008, when she starred in Shrek: The Musical on Broadway.
The pair became close while co-starring in The Music Man, after they were announced as the lead actors in 2019.
Foster was married to her college sweetheart, Ted Griffin at the time, while Jackman was married to Furness.
The 51-year-old Younger actress filed for divorce from Griffin in October 2024, around the same time reports emerged of her relationship with Jackman.
Jackman and Furness, once deemed Hollywood’s most enduring pairs, cited “individual growth” as the reason for their shock split.
“Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” their joint statement read in 2023.
“We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love and kindness.”
Furness has publicly spoken about the struggles she has faced following her split from her husband, whom she met on the set of Australian television series Correlli in 1995.
“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” she said last year, according to BBC reports.
“It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God and the universe… is always working for us.”
