A cycling challenge is set to raise funds for a children’s hospice that has supported a family through some of their toughest moments.
David Cooke, from Old Town, will cycle from Old Town to Amsterdam from July 2 to 4 in support of Julia’s House, the children’s hospice in Devizes.
The fundraiser is inspired by Oscar Moulding, an 18-year-old who lives with muscular dystrophy and who, along with his family, was supported by the hospice for eight years.

Oscar’s mother, Alexandra Moulding, said: “Julia’s House are an amazing charity that changed our lives in so many ways.
“They bring support and fun to every member of the family.
“We are so proud of David for choosing Julia’s House and would love to help him get as many donations as possible.
“They also organise events and trips away for parents and siblings too.
“We have so many amazing memories of our time with them and they really helped us through some challenging times.”
Julia’s House provides care at home and at their Devizes hospice, offering respite, activities, and outings for children with life-limiting conditions, as well as emotional and practical support for their families.
Oscar’s story, featured earlier this year in a Julia’s House news article, inspired Mr Cooke to take on the cycling challenge.
The ride aims to raise at least £1,000 for the charity, and nearly half of that target has already been reached through Mr Cooke’s fundraising page.
Oscar has since transitioned out of Julia’s House care due to his age and now serves as an ambassador for the organisation, hoping to give back through public speaking and advocacy.
In the article, Oscar reflected on his time with the hospice, describing the care he received and the difference it made in his life.
He shared memories of day trips, themed activities, and time spent with staff who became like family.
Oscar said he felt at peace with his condition and grateful for the experiences and friendships he gained through Julia’s House.
The charity relies heavily on donations to provide its services, with fundraisers like Mr Cooke’s cycle ride playing a vital role in supporting its work.
