Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster have reportedly fled New York after drama surrounding the Wolverine star’s split from Deborra-Lee Furness peaked at the Met Gala.

After new photos emerged showing Jackman, 57, and Foster, 51, loading their bags into an SUV outside their New York City apartment, insiders have claimed it’s in part due to the couple’s frustrations that their industry friends are taking sides in the divorce, a move that Jackman thinks is being fuelled by his ex-wife, 70.

“Hugh’s becoming increasingly angry that more and more people in Hollywood are quietly turning against him,” a well-placed source told Woman’s Day.

Things reportedly reached a head at the 2026 Met Gala, where fellow Aussie star Nicole Kidman is said to have snubbed Jackman and Foster, making her alliances clear.

“He thinks Deb is behind it and says there’s been a steady drip of poison from her camp,” the insider went on.

“It’s not just Nicole – he’s now convinced Naomi Watts and Russell Crowe are ditching him for Deb too.”

The publication further adds that Jackman is “very protective” of his new partner and doesn’t think it’s fair that she is being “frozen out” by the people she once used to be friends with.

It comes just days after a source told New Idea that Furness had requested to meet with Jackman and Foster in an effort to find some “closure”.

“For the longest time, Deb swore off the idea of even being in the same room as Sutton,” the source said.

“Watching Hugh and Sutton parade around the city, openly flaunting their romance and mingling with all the same people they used to socialise with as a couple, is incredibly painful and humiliating.

“But at this point it feels like something she needs to check off her list, if only to put an end to the awkwardness… also so she can speak her truth.”

Jackman and Furness announced their separation in a joint statement in 2023, marking the end of their 27-year marriage.

Just one year after the finalisation of their divorce in 2025, Jackman went public with his new partner Foster.

The timeline of their relationship has long been the subject of speculation, with the couple starring opposite each other in The Music Man on Broadway in 2023, when they were both still married to other people.

Infidelity rumours were further fuelled by Furness’ statement to Daily Mail last year, which read: “My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal.”
