After South Australia and Griffith, WIN CEO warns of more switch-off.
WIN chief executive Andrew Lancaster has warned more areas are set to lose access to some channels in regional Western Australia and Darwin.
“WIN has long signalled that we will not continue with unprofitable aspects of our business and the 10 signals in South Australia and Griffith fall into that category,” CEO Andrew Lancaster told the Australian Financial Review.
“Whilst we understand the disruption this may cause, our focus is on ensuring our core Nine business in regional Australia is as strong as possible.”
“Services that are not profitable such as 10 in regional Western Australia and Darwin are likely to stop broadcasting in the next six months,” Lancaster added.
Lancaster said the networks’ survival had been prolonged by government intervention, but it had become economically unviable.
WIN is also in the process of purchasing Territory TV from Nine, in which it is a major shareholder.
