Young woman and baby killed in three-car collision at Oak Beach

A three-car collision in far-north Queensland has killed a young woman and an infant child.

Emergency services were called to the Captain Cook Hwy in Oak Beach, south of Port Douglas, after a Mitsubishi Triton utility collided with an MG3 about 4pm on Friday.

The driver of the MG, a 25-year-old woman, and an infant passenger died at the scene while a 22-year-old female passenger was airlifted to Cairns Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A 62-year-old man driving the Mitsubishi was taken to Cairns Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Initial investigations indicate the Mitsubishi hit a Mazda before smashing into the MG3.

The driver and passenger of the Mazda did not sustain any injuries.

Anyone with information, including dashcam footage has been urged to contact police as investigations into the incident continue.
