Harry Styles lost his virginity to Radiohead.
To be clear, he didn’t sleep with anyone from the rock band, but he recently revealed their song, “Talk Show Host,” was playing while he did the deed for the first time.
Styles appeared at the 2026 Ivor Novello Awards to introduce Academy Fellowship winner Thom Yorke, the main singer for Radiohead. “Their debut album came out the year before I was born,” the “American Girls” singer said in his speech. “I’m just gonna let that sink.”
He continued, “So I discovered their songs over time growing up, inhaling second-hand teenage angst from up the stairs separating my sister’s bedroom from where I sat below doing my homework. I found them again at parties and treasured moments alone.”
That’s when Styles went full TMI. “I lost my virginity to ‘Talk Show Host,’” he confessed, prompting a huge roar of laughter from the audience. The Grammy winner then joked that the intimate encounter only lasted as long as the song’s intro.
I mean, I guess there are worse songs to play during your first time.
“Thom’s work is music that is felt. It’s always been somewhat of a religious experience to me. Religious in the sense that understanding seemed to go both ways,” Styles continued. “I cannot overstate how his work has influenced my belief in the purpose of the arts in our world today, and I cannot overstate how much his work continues to influence me.”
“Without ‘Exit Music’ there would be no ‘Watermelon Sugar,’” he added. “Imagine that. A world without that song. It doesn’t bear thinking about.”
“It’s an honor to be here tonight to present Thom with this recognition of his enduring influence on British music. Radiohead is my favorite band,” Styles said at the end of his speech. “Thank you, Thom, forever.”
