It’s Memorial Day Weekend, but Pittsburgh’s Sister Bridges are trading the red, white, and blue of the American flag for the green, white, and orange of the Irish flag.
Allegheny County is commemorating the first-ever Pittsburgh-to-Dublin direct flight, which departs Monday from Pittsburgh International Airport, by illuminating the Warhol, Carson, and Clemente Bridges in the colors of Ireland.
The special lighting began Friday night and is set to last through Sunday night.
The newest nonstop international destination from PIT was announced in December. Flights via Aer Lingus are scheduled to operate four days a week, 10 months per year.
Monday’s first service is scheduled to depart at 8:10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and land in Dublin at 8:10 a.m. British Standard Time, for a total duration of seven hours.
