Greater Western Sydney is coming off a disappointing loss to the West Coast Eagles in Perth, and hosts reigning premiers Brisbane.

The Lions are also coming off a last-start defeat, aiming to bounce back with a win that could move them back into the AFL’s top six by the end of the day.

Round 11 of the AFL concludes with the Western Bulldogs hosting the Melbourne Demons at Docklands Stadium.

Riccardi kicks his second!

The Giants have been threatening for about the past five minutes and finally get their reward, after some great pressure work from Finn Callaghan in the middle, before he bursts through the pack and deliver the ball to Jake Riccardi.

Riccardi snaps truly and the Giants deserved that for all the work.

Lachie Neale kicks the first of the second

It’s a free kick in the F50 for the Brownlow medallist and I’ll have to have a look at the replay to see what happened … yep, it’s there, he was caught high while collecting the pill on the turf.

Scores tied up again.

It’s awesome attacking footy in this first quarter and the Giants are the team that hold a slim lead heading into the second term.

Lachie Neale and Cam Rayner have looked dangerous for the Lions while Clayton Oliver has looked explosive for the Giants. The end-to-end work from GWS has been a sight to behold but the Lions have looked the cleaner of the two teams in their attacking 50.

A huge loss for GWS with Jack Buckley ruled out of the game with a hamstring, having already lost Lachie Whitfield to hamstring awareness before the match.

Brown snaps a major!

It’s an outside of the foot snap from Callum Brown after roving the pack and the Giants go ahead by that goal.

Jack Buckley is done for the day

The ice is on the hamstring and that looks like day done for the defender. A huge loss for the Giants after losing Lachie Whitfield before the game as well.

Bedford snaps truly!

The Orange Tsunami (TM) in its purest form! It’s lovely end to end stuff from the Giants and Toby Bedford is rewarded for hard running after following the play almost the entire way.

Giants back in front!

Injury concern for the Giants

Jack Buckley has only just come back into the team but he’s now been off for a good chunk of this quarter with a hamstring issue. It doesn’t look great, he looks concerned.

Cameron puts the Lions back in front

It’s the ninth goal of the game and it comes via a snap from Charlie Cameron after he gets a holding free kick. And honestly? It’s barely there as well. Tough call.

Fun fact about Charlie Cameron. He currently sits third for most goals in finals since 2000 and should overtake Tom Hawkins into second if the Lions play finals this year. Incredible record.

And now the Giants are back in front!

Max Gruzewski snaps truly after a clever handball from Toby McMullin back inside. Giants back in front and my keyboard is overheating.

Lions back in front!

Rayner has his second after a getting what I would call a terribly soft free kick in the ruck. Honestly, if anything Riccardi’s run to the ball was blocked by Rayner, but Rayner went down very easily. Bad call. Lions take the lead.

McLachlan answers back!

Dear lord this is fast footy. This time it’s Will McLachlan who takes a nice clunk on the edge of the square and kicks truly. Giants lead by one.

Giants hit straight back!

This time it’s a free to Jake Stringer and he nails it! We’re five and half minutes in and we have five majors already. I can’t keep up!

Cam Rayner waltzes into an unguarded goal

It’s a free kick for the Lions in the marking contest and everyone stops trying to figure out who the free is for. Rayner doesn’t though, and he takes the advantage to kick the easiest goal of his career. Or second easiest … he had a couple of easy ones in the finals last year.

Two in a row for the Giants!

Jake Riccardi roves the pack and snaps a low dribbler for a major! Lovely work down low from the big man.

Giants hit straight back!

And it’s Toby Greene who earns the holding free kick in the forward pocket.

Greene kicks truly and we’re tied up.

Lions on the board first

It’s Brisbane that gets things underway after a lovely snap from the Irishman Conor McKenna. That’s no reward for Harvey Thomas who laid a lovely tackle on Charlie Cameron that effected the spill. There was no free there, but it was good defensive work.

We are underway in Sydney

It’s a tough task for the Giants, but they have a good recent record against the back-to-back premiers.

Who can get on the board first? Let’s go!
