Queensland is adamant Cameron Munster will line up in Wednesday’s State of Origin decider despite the Maroons captain sitting out Sunday’s full training session.

Munster was a notable absentee, instead reduced to passing drills with Allan Langer while centre Robert Toia trained in a no-contact bib.

Toia has been cleared to play after suffering a category two HIA at Magic Round and Munster is also set to take his place in the line-up at Accor Stadium despite his reduced load on Sunday.

“He pulled out his pensioner’s card, swiped it and he said he’s having the day off… he’s getting old so we had to look after his load,” Storm teammate Harry Grant joked to ‘Sunday Night with Matty Johns’.

It was a similar message from Queensland forward Tino Fa’asuamaleaui earlier on Sunday.

“I think he’s just getting a bit old. He just calls when he wants to train,” Fa’asuamaleaui said.

“But no, I think he’s just had a bit of soreness and he’s getting looked after.

“He’s getting more experienced he is getting a bit older, so you’ve got to look after your body.”

The Titans captain shot down any suggestions the Maroons were playing mind games, replying: “That’s them (NSW) doing the most of the talking. I don’t look into it too much.”

If Munster was to miss Wednesday’s game, Ezra Mam will be called up after training in his place on Sunday.

Fa’asuamaleaui, meanwhile, also opened up on a rare down year at the Titans by his lofty standards.

“It’s definitely been a learning curve for me. I’ve probably never had a slump in my form in my career,” Fa’asuamaleaui said.

“I think I got caught up in a lot (of talk) about not running the big metres and doing the big shots that I usually do and always on that borderline, testing the ref with my aggression.

“But I wouldn’t be in this team if it wasn’t for the hard work I was doing that the people that sit on the lounge wouldn’t see.

“Billy wanted to pick me and he’s made it real clear to all of us that he understands our game more than anyone, even us.”
