Laredo’s first Olympian Jennifer Lozano is one win away from earning her second international gold medal with USA Boxing as she attempts Monday to complete an unbeaten run through the 2026 Copa America in Girardot, Colombia.

With a 6-0 record across a week of competition, Lozano has already secured at least a silver medal. It is her first international medal since finishing in third place at the World Boxing Cup in Brazil in April 2025. It is her highest finish since taking second place at the 2023 Santiago Pan American Games, the performance that secured her spot in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

If Lozano wins Monday, it would be her second international gold medal with Team USA. She won the 2022 AMBC Elite Championships in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

The 2026 Copa America is a unique tournament featuring a round-robin format with boxers fighting every competitor in their division. Lozano is one of 13 competitors for USA Boxing, with eight men and five women competing.

Lozano opened competition in the 50 kg division Sunday, May 17, with a win by referee stoppage in the third round against Colombia’s Sara Torres. That was the first of three straight wins by stoppage. The other two stoppages came in the second round as Lozano beat Chile’s Claudio Cajo on Monday, May 18, and Colombia’s Gina Alvarez on Wednesday, May 20.

Lozano beat Colombia’s Indrid Caicedo 5-0 on Thursday, May 21, and had her closest bout Friday, May 22, earning a split decision as she beat Colombia’s Leidy Rivas 4-1. Lozano stayed undefeated and advanced to Monday’s championship by beating Venezuela’s Luz Mirabal 5-0 on Saturday, May 23.

Information for Lozano’s championship bout was pending Sunday. For updates on the 2026 Copa America competition and links to view the bouts on YouTube, visit usaboxing.org/2026-copa-america.
