Kimi Antonelli has won the Canadian Grand Prix, after an extraordinarily tense battle with his teammate George Russell, extending his championship lead and smashing F1 records.
It was a disastrous day for McLaren with the papaya team taking a gamble and choosing to start both their drivers on intermediate tyres, despite objections from Piastri.

Despite starting third and fourth respectively, Norris and Piastri had to pit early to switch tyres, loosing vital places and plummeting down the scoreboard.
Then it got worse.
While trying to execute an overtake on Ollie Bearmann, Piastri slammed into Alex Albon’s Williams car and copped a 10-second time penalty. Norris suffered a gearbox failure and had to retire.
There was plenty of poor luck and car trouble around the grid, with poles-sitter and race-leader George Russell suffering a power unit failure and forcing a retirement.
Russell had been locked in a tense and thrilling battle with teammate Kimi Antonelli, with both drivers told to tidy up their racing before they caused a collision.
Antonelli repeatedly attacked Russell for the lead, complaining at times Russell had “pushed him off”, and the race lead switched numerous times. After Russell’s power failure, Antonelli easily snatched the lead and sailed to his fourth consecutive grand prix.
Lewis Hamilton finished second with former rival Max Verstappen completely the podium for third.
McLaren has come away with zero points, with Norris notching a DNF and Piastri finishing in 11th place.
