About halfway through our interview, Ben Thompson, the founder of $2 billion human resources technology company Employment Hero, casually mentions that its new artificial intelligence tool is interviewing about 1000 candidates a week for jobs.
Employment Hero is set up as a one-stop platform for HR, payroll, hiring and paying employee benefits, primarily for small to medium-sized businesses that lack an internal legal or human resources department. Close to 15 per cent of the country’s privately employed workers – or 2.5 million employees – are now being paid through its platform.
