Cricket fans have been left stunned after 15-year-old batting phenom Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 97 runs off 29 balls to send Pat Cummins and Travis Head’s side crashing out of the IPL. Cummins and Head were looking to take the Sunrisers Hyderabad to the next round of the IPL finals when they took on the Rajasthan Royals.
Although it wasn’t the Australian captain who stole the show, but a 15-year-old batting phenom. Sooryavanshi blasted the second-highest individual score of the tournament to help Hyderabad to 243-8 off 20 overs.

This was also the second-biggest team total in IPL knockout history, which set a daunting task for Cummins and his men. And they struggled to get going having been bowled out for 196 after 19.2 overs.
Jofra Archer was the star for the Royals with the white ball taking 3-58. This is the second game in a row Archer has starred with the ball having taken apart the Mumbai Indians in the previous game. But it was Sooryavanshi who stole the show. The teenager hit 12 sixes and five fours, but fell just short of a century.
Plaudits are flying in for the Indian superstar with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Michael Vaughan in awe of the 15-year-old. There are calls for India to give the youngster his firsrt international cap after his IPL feats.
Pat Cummins eliminated from IPL
Aussie captain Cummins struggled against the Royals having gone for 64 runs off just four overs. The team were helpless as Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal got their franchise off to a roaring start before the 15-year-old fell after the team posted 125 runs.
Sooryavanshi is breaking all types of milestones in the IPL having eclipsed Jaiswal’s record of most IPL runs by an uncapped batter (626). The Royals will now take on Gujarat in the next elimination round.
Unfortunately, Cummins and Head were not able to join fellow national teammate Josh Hazlewood into the final. Royal Challengers Bengaluru thrashed Gujarat in the first playoff qualifier by 92 runs with the Titans now playing the Royals in the elimination game.
Hazlewood didn’t have the best figures, 1-39, but took the key wicket of Jos Butler as the batter was starting to get going. The Aussie quick is looking to win his second IPL title in a row and has been instrumental in getting his franchise to the final. Virat Kohli and Hazlewood will be looking to secure the Royals another title with the star-studded line-up looking to create IPL history.
