How much have the Indianapolis Colts invested in each position group this season relative to the rest of the NFL?
At the moment, Over the Cap has the Colts with $31.82 million in available cap space. Only five teams have more cap space than Indianapolis.

The Colts have ranked near the top of the league in available cap space for much of this offseason. However, given that it is almost June, they are likely to end up sitting on most of that.
The good news is that any unused cap space does rollover to the next offseason, positioning the Colts well for 2027.
But as it pertains to the 2026 season, Spotrac has a position-by-position breakdown of where these cap dollars are going and how that compares to the rest of the league.
Positional breakdown of Colts’ 2026 salary cap spending
The Colts are among the teams with the most cap space devoted to their secondary, as well as at the defensive tackle and running back positions, with DeForest Buckner, Grover Stewart, and Jonathan Taylor.

On the flip side, the Colts rank near the bottom in cap space devoted to the defensive end position — a unit with question marks entering the upcoming season. Along the offensive line, the Colts are getting excellent value.
