The end of their hybrid work schedule will start on January 1, 2026 along with several policy changes.
CLEVELAND — Sherwin-Williams has announced the end of their hybrid work schedule and will require all employees in the US and Canada to be in-office five days a week starting on January 1, 2026.
In a statement released to 3News from Julie S. Young, Sherwin-Williams’ Vice President of Global Corporate Communications, the announcement is being made at this time to give employees “enough time to adjust” before the new policy goes into effect.

“The Sherwin-Williams Company has a long history of success founded in the Company’s strong culture of collaboration, connection and winning together. We also value providing our employees with workplace options so they can thrive both professionally and personally.
“We continue to be focused on finding the right balance so that our Company and our people can continue to win over the long term. After careful consideration of multiple factors, Sherwin-Williams is announcing effective January 1, 2026, all U.S. and Canada employees assigned to Company offices will return to work in the office five days a week. Longer term, this policy change is expected to apply to all office employees globally.
“We are making this announcement now out of respect for our employees and to provide them with enough time to adjust to the new policy before it takes effect next January.
“The updated policy offers several workplace options that are designed to support our workforce managing their employment and personal obligations. This includes employees receiving a bank of 12 days per year that can be used as planned remote working days. The policy retains the summer hours program and flexible work schedule option. We will also continue to provide employees with a wide variety of health, education, development and other related benefits as part of our Total Rewards offering.

According to 3News media partner Cleveland.com, the following policy changes at Sherwin-Williams will reflect this change in 2026:
Employees will receive a bank of 12 days per year that can be used as planned remote working days.The Remote Day bank will be granted on a calendar year basis and may be used in half-day increments. No more than two (2) Remote Days may be used in any given month. Those two (2) days may be consecutive.Remote days may be used on days preceding or following a vacation, holiday or other time away.Unused Remote Days expire at the end of the calendar year for which they are granted and do not rollover. Unused Remote Days will not be paid out for any purposes.
Sherwin-Williams began their hybrid work schedule during the Covid-19 pandemic as they began to build their new 36-story global headquarters building in downtown Cleveland. The building is expected to open in early-2026.
