The Nittany Lions are making one last roar before this year’s NHL Draft.

Forward Gavin McKenna, along with recruits Jaxon Cover and Pierce Mbuyi, will be attending the 2026 NHL Combine, which will run from Monday, June 1 to Friday, June 6 in Buffalo, New York.

McKenna, a Whitehorse, Yukon, native, is Penn State’s first Big Ten Scoring Champion with 38 points consisting of 11 goals and 27 assists. His 2025-26 season set the single-season program record for assists with 36.

The 2026 Hobey Baker Award Finalist entered his freshman season at Penn State rated as the the No. 1 prospect for the 2026 NHL Draft.

Cover, a left wing for the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), committed to Penn State in April toting 52 points, 20 goals and 32 assists for the 2025-26 season. The 4-star recruit played in 67 games for the Knights.

Mbuyi, another left wing from Mississauga, Ontario, was named OHL Rookie of the Year last season after achieving 52 points, 29 goals and 23 assists in 63 games for the Attack. The 5-star recruit committed to Penn State in June of last year.
