A warrant has been issued for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk for posting a speeding video outside Levi’s Stadium. Hours later, he posted racetrack footage with a defiant caption—a move that has ex-NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho questioning whether the 49ers receiver is experiencing a mental health crisis or is simply making catastrophic decisions.
Aiyuk’s legal troubles began in December when he posted a video of himself speeding outside Levi’s Stadium. According to The California Post, the Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office saw the video and charged him with exhibition of speeding.

Aiyuk responded a few hours later on Instagram, posting pictures and a video of him with a car at a race track with the caption “Mad I took off got some (bleep) in they feelings!”
On Wednesday night’s episode of the podcast “Speakeasy,” Acho went off on Aiyuk.
“It’s either a mental health crisis or he’s dumb,” Acho said. “There is no in between. You post yourself on social media doing something that gets you a warrant issued for your arrest. The first thing I’m always going to err on the side of caution for is mental health crisis based on the age and era we live in, because that’s a serious issue. But how stupid do you have to be to drive 40 miles over the speed limit, record yourself doing it and post it? It’s just dumb.”
In five seasons, Aiyuk has 294 receptions for 4,305 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also added 117 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Aiyuk did not play in 2024 while recovering from a knee injury suffered in Week 7 of the 2024 season. Aiyuk and the 49ers also reached an impasse after he and head coach Kyle Shanahan argued over what color shorts to wear to practice.

The situation deteriorated further when Aiyuk refused to report to practice, leading to him being placed on the reserve/left squad list and effectively ending his tenure with the 49ers. There have been rumors that the Washington Commanders were interested in acquiring him through a trade or free agent signing if he was released by the 49ers. The latest developments involving Aiyuk could halt their pursuit of him.

Given these developments, Acho said Aiyuk’s actions will prevent him from playing for a long time.
“If he’s willing to throw $60 million away, you think he cares that much about your organization?” Acho said. “He didn’t care about the organization that drafted him, nor the organization that offered him in excess of $60 million guaranteed. I just don’t know what kind of fool would take a chance on this version of B.A. until we see him get help.”
