Miss Sayé Yabandeh was doing her morning meditation on the beach, just before sunrise, and was about to head back inside. Out of nowhere, she got an intense feeling that she should turn around for a moment — and that’s when she spotted him.

A tiny blob was buried in a huge pile of seaweed, and upon closer inspection, Yabandeh realized it was a baby sea turtle.
“Something told me to turn around, just to see you, baby,” Yabandeh said in a video on TikTok.

Yabandeh gently picked up the little guy, who was barely moving. She held him in her hand for a while and began walking out towards the ocean, hoping the baby would start to perk up.
“Typically, newly hatched turtles embark on a long journey to the sea at this time, but on this particular day, the thick seaweed posed a grave threat,” Bonnie Mai, a representative for Yabandeh, told The Dodo. “A seaweed tractor was soon to arrive, risking harm to the fragile creature.”
As Yabandeh held the baby closer to the water and walked farther out into the sea, he immediately began to perk up, moving his little legs. She walked him out past the seaweed so that he wouldn’t get caught again. She felt very connected to the baby sea turtle at that moment, and waited until she could feel he was truly ready. Finally, she placed him in the water, and off he went.

The little baby confidently swam away, and Yabandeh could not have been more thrilled.
“The experience was a beautiful testament to interspecies connection and healing,” Mai said. “Following this, Miss Sayé took a moment on the seaweed-laden beach to meditate and send gratitude and [healing energy] to the Atlantic Ocean, honouring the sacred cycle of life.”
The entire experience was aligned with who Yabandeh is and the message she tries to spread throughout the world.
