Queensland teammates Kalyn Ponga and Cam Munster came to blows in an incident which sparked a massive brawl.

Ponga committed a knock on but picked the ball up straight away before being sent flying by Munster, who claimed he did not hear the referee’s whistle.

Dane Gagai then quickly rushed in to defend Ponga, who was left in a heap on the ground.

That sparked a tussle with Melbourne’s Joe Chan, who grappled with the Knights No. 3 under a crush of other players.

Meanwhile a secondary fight broke out involving Knights star Dominic Young and Moses Leo, while Jermaine McEwen also grabbed Jahrome Hughes like a rag doll.

Ponga was everywhere in an action packed first half, brilliantly preventing a Melbourne try with a tackle similar to the one that got him sent off in Origin 1.

A clever pass in the build up also allowed Dylan Brown to cross for a try, while he was involved in a head clash he was fortunate did not cause more damage.

After the break he did not fare much better, hurting his shoulder as he failed to stop Hughes crossing for a try.

At halftime Munster spoke to Fox Sports and was asked about his coming together with Ponga.

“I didn’t hear a whistle. Sometimes you think it’s a knock-on you stop.

“I’m not stopping for Kalyn, he makes me look silly most of the time.

“It might not look good but at the end of the day he’s not my teammate, these are my teammates (gesturing to Storm players) and I’ll work hard for my teammates.”
