The Australian racing driver accused of raping a Michael Schumacher nurse has been cleared.
Joey Mawson was accused of raping the nurse twice following a night of heavy drinking at the F1 legend’s family mansion in Switzerland in 2019.
The alleged incident happened in an upstairs bedroom at the F1 legend’s family home in Gland, near Geneva.

While admitting he had sex with the nurse, Mawson (a friend of Schumacher’s son, Mick) denied the allegations and said the sex was consensual.
Now a Swiss court has acquitted Mawson on all charges.

The court said there was “insufficient evidence” for a conviction.
“It’s a just verdict. He can finally make plans for the future now that his name has been cleared,” Mawson’s lawyer, Luc Vaney, told BILD.
The nurse was reportedly in tears after the court’s decision and later issued a statement.
“I feel terrible. First I was attacked, then I was sacked and now the court has basically said I am a liar,” she said.
“I have been through hell these last six years and the court decides not to convict, saying there was reasonable doubt, but no one can believe it.”
Mawson rose through the ranks of European single-seater series alongside Mick Schumacher before returning home during COVID.
He won the Australian drivers’ championship twice and was hoping to switch to Supercars when he was suspended for an anti-doping violation.
