Untried Gold Coast ruck Max Knobel is reportedly the latest AFL player to come under investigation for an alleged homophobic slur.
Seven’s Mitch Cleary reported on Sunday morning that the 21-year-old made a comment towards a Brisbane opponent in Saturday afternoon’s Q-Clash curtain-raiser, in an incident which is now being scrutinised by the AFL’s Integrity Unit.

“The Gold Coast Suns are aware of an incident involving one of its players in Saturday’s VFL match against the Brisbane Lions,” a Suns spokesperson told Seven.
“The club is currently cooperating fully with the AFL’s Integrity Unit as part of an ongoing investigation.”
The report comes just a month after Brisbane’s Koby Evans received a four-match penalty for a homophobic slur in a VFL match, among a number of other AFL-listed players in the last two years.
