On Friday night, the Rangers picked up a narrow 3-2 victory over the Guardians, but Cleveland bounced back to win big on Saturday in a 6-0 victory, forcing a rubber match in the finale. Saturday’s loss was credited to Jack Leiter, on the mound after throwing 4.2 innings and giving up five earned runs while striking out just two batters. The Rangers only managed three hits on the night and were unable to bring any of their runners home, forcing them to take the shutout loss.
Behind strong pitching from Tanner Bibee and impressive hitting from the team, the Guardians were able to post a four-run fifth inning, which helped put the game out of reach for the Rangers. José Ramírez and Brayan Rocchio each hit home runs in the game to put their team out front. Chase DeLauter, Kyle Manzardo, Daniel Schneeman and Travis Bazzana each brought in additional runs.
Joey Cantillo will get the start for Cleveland on Sunday afternoon, while Texas will put the ball in Jacob deGrom’s hand. Castillo is currently 4-2 on the year with an ERA of 3.92, while deGrom is 4-4 with an ERA of 3.48.
