The grieving family of a four-year-old girl who died in a tragic collision has shared their heartfelt gratitude after a fundraiser campaign raised tens of thousands of dollars in donations in just days.
Layna Leavy was unable to be saved following the horrific accident in Canning Vale, in Perth’s south, on Wednesday night, which also injured her mother and young brother.
Layna is being remembered for her “infectious smile” and for having “a warmth that filled every room she walked into”.
Her family wrote that their “hearts are shattered into a million pieces”, saying “four years on this earth was never long enough”.
Layna is survived by her mother Saoirse, father Graeme and brother Glen. The family, originally from Ireland, moved to Perth less than two years ago in 2024.
Now, merely days after the tragic crash, their community has rallied around them, showing their support.
Since its establishment, the fundraiser has generated an incredible $53,000 in donations.

Layna’s family say the community’s generosity has left them “completely overwhelmed” and “not yet able to find the words to express what this means”.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you,” they wrote on GoFundMe.
“We never could have imagined that … so many of you from Perth, Ireland, and every corner of the world, would come together like this for our little Layna.
“We are completely overwhelmed and not yet able to find the words to express what this means to us.

“To every single person who gave, shared, who lit a candle and left flowers at the roadside, you have wrapped your arms around our family at a time when we need it most.”
Funds are being raised to help the family cover funeral and memorial expenses, as well as the financial pressures that come with time away from work, allowing them to focus on grieving and supporting one another.
“In less than two years, Layna had already woven herself into the hearts of so many, here in Australia, and across the community they had left behind in Ireland,” Layna’s loved ones said.
“Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and your support during the most unimaginable of times.”
