One week after recruiting Asia Donald, the St. John’s women’s basketball team signed Duquesne transfer Reina Green on June 8.
“Reina’s a versatile guard, who will bring a wealth of experience to our team. She can defend multiple positions, make plays for her teammates and possess a strong scoring prowess,” head coach Joe Tartamella said.
The senior guard ranked third in scoring for the Dukes, registering 7.8 points per game. She reached double figures 12 times throughout the season, boasting a career high of 20-points, four-three pointers and seven rebounds.
In addition to her productive scoring, Green ranked second in rebounding with 5.2 boards per game. She also dished 1.5 assists and recorded 1.0 steals per game.
The Florida native made 62 appearances across her two seasons at Duquesne, including over 34 starts. In her junior campaign she appeared in all 31 games, starting in 23 of those outings. During her first season with the Dukes, she appeared in 31 games and made 11 starts.
Prior to playing at the Division I level, Green started her collegiate career at Pensacola State College, a NJCAA school. In her first outing, she posted 17 points and three triples. That season she averaged 8.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game on 44.4% shooting.
Green is the latest addition to Tartamella’s recruiting class, which includes reigning MVC Sixth Player of the Year Sanna Tripp, Canadian prospect Yohana Fami and Donald.
