The much-hyped sequel to 2010 drama The Social Network is here, exposing Facebook’s most shocking and guarded secrets and the explosive investigations behind them.

Succession star Jeremy Strong takes over from Jesse Eisenberg as the role of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in follow-up film The Social Reckoning, 16 years since the original.

Strong is joined by Oscar-winning actress Mikey Madison (Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood) and Emmy winner Jeremy Allen White (The Bear, Shameless) in the feature film set for release in cinemas October 2026.

We’ve witnessed the rise of Facebook, but this time the film follows the explosive 2021 investigative series by The Wall Street Journal that gave rise to The Facebook Files.

The files exposed the platform’s harmful effect on teens and their mental health, content moderation policies and its role in the political space and global spread of misinformation.

Inspired by a true story, young Facebook engineer Frances Haugen (Madison) enlists the help of a Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz (White), to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social media giant.

“I am here to make things very clear… I am here to help Facebook not hurt it, OK?” Haugen says in the first-look trailer.

“Senior leadership knows, and it’s doing nothing,” she says moments before we see scenes of Zuckerberg going to trial.

“We have 102 hours to get everything.”
