Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski made history against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.
Misiorowski threw a pitch that reached 104.5 miles per hour in the first inning of the game, setting a new record for the fastest pitch by a starter in MLB history.
He broke his own record of 103.7 mph, which was set during Milwaukee’s 7-1 win over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday.
Misiorowski entered Friday’s action with the top 10 fastest pitches thrown by a starter this season (h/t MLB.com’s Anthony Castrovince).
The average velocity of his four-seam fastball is also the highest among all starting pitchers in 2026 at 100.0 mph, via Statcast.
After Misiorowski earned an All-Star nod as a rookie during his 2025 campaign, he’s looked even sharper on the mound this year.
In his first 13 starts of the season, he posted a 7-2 record to go along with a 1.50 ERA and 0.808 WHIP. He also racked up a league-leading 116 strikeouts compared to 22 walks.
The Brewers held a 41-25 record leading up to Friday’s matchup with Philadelphia, sitting atop the National League Central standings.
