Not all celebrity interviews go to plan. Just ask Nikki Osborne.

The popular comedian quit the Nova Brisbane breakfast show last year to focus on her podcast/YouTube series called Bush Deep, which sees her interview stars while in character as ‘Bushie’, an ocker and wildly inappropriate journalist.

The hilarious interviews often turn into a bit of a roast, with Bushie poking fun at her guest’s career highlights and lowlights.

So far, Osborne has released episodes with Larry Emdur, Wippa, Manu Feildel and Whose Line Is It Anyway star Colin Mochrie, with a further 10 interviews to be rolled out in the coming weeks.

Not all of the interviews went smoothly though, with one star walking out after the first question.

Osborne shared the story during a chat with news.com.au to promote an upcoming comedy event in Sydney called EveryPlate’s Dinner Roast, with tickets available here.

Nikki, your character Bushie has no filter and makes outrageous comments to the celebrity guests. Have any stars been annoyed or offended by something Bushie has said?

Yes. There was one time a particular guest, who I won’t name, got up and walked out after the first joke.

We did coax him back in, and he said, “you can’t say that!” I said, “OK, that’s fair, we’ll take that out,” and then he decided to stay and have a bit of a play.

What’s weird is I landed so many more harsher jokes on him after that and they didn’t seem to bother him.

Can you give me a clue as to who that was?

Someone who has been in TV for a very long time, that’s all I can say.

I assume you’re pretty hands on with the edit of each episode. Do you ever watch the footage back and think, “wow, I can’t believe I actually said that!”

Definitely. There’s a lot of butt-clenching moments when going through the edits, and I often think, “can we even put this out to the public?”

I’ve got an Annie Knight (OnlyFans creator) episode coming out next week and I’m editing it at the moment, and I’m like, “where is the line?”

It’s all funny, but the content we’re covering is so outrageous.

Do you feel like you can get away with more because you’re playing a character?

Oh yes. I’ve got to be really careful when I’m Nikki Osborne, but Bush Barbie (the character’s nickname) can get away with anything.

I mean who is going to take Bush Barbie to court, aside from Mattel?

You’ve met so many celebs through Bush Deep and your TV and radio career. Who has been your favourite?

My favourite person is Larry Emdur. The whole episode I did with him I was trying to find a chink in his armour, but he’s just genuinely nice.

He’s become a great friend and now regularly calls to check up on me and will send me a bottle of his Ben Buckler whisky if he can see I’ve had a bad week.

On the flip side, has there been a celebrity you didn’t enjoy meeting?

I haven’t had anyone be a total arse. I have had people in bad moods though.

I’ve got a good episode with Colin Fassnidge coming out.

He came in and he was tired and over it, and then we got on the sauce and just ended up ribbing each other.

There were moments where I was like, “are we fighting?” He’s Irish, so it’s kind of hard to tell.

Who is on your interview wish list?

I’m definitely chasing a Hemsworth.

Any of the three Hemsworths?

Well, we all know there’s a ranking order, and I’m not going to say it.

We’re also starting to reach out to people overseas like Will Ferrell and Theo Von.

What can you tell me about this EveryPlate Dinner Roast comedy event at Sydney’s Potts Point Hotel on June 18?

There’s going to be a very good line-up of comedians and we’re going to rip the piss out of over-the-top foodie culture, like ‘wienermaxxing’.

Excuse me?

It sounds like a Viagra product, doesn’t it? But no, it’s a dish that you put in your mouth, but you have to spend hours cooking it. It’s like a really bad dagwood dog.

Anyone can buy tickets to this event, right?

Yep, anyone can book a spot, and honestly, it’s priced way too cheaply. I think it’s $22.50 and that includes a three-course meal.

I’ve told EveryPlate, “why are you doing this? You should be charging $100!” They’re crazy.
