Atlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider left his outing with right elbow and shoulder soreness Friday night against the Mets in New York after his fastball dipped in velocity.
Braves manager Walt Weiss said Strider would likely get an MRI on Saturday.
Strider’s fastball was averaging 93 mph before it suddenly dropped to 86-87 mph during the fourth inning, and he left with a trainer. He threw 68 pitches, in which he gave up seven runs and three home runs, including two from Bo Bichette.
Strider missed the 2024 season with right elbow surgery to repair his UCL and had Tommy John surgery in 2019 as a sophomore at Clemson. The 27-year-old’s ERA rose from 4.00 to 5.31 after Friday’s outing.
