Cooked Scampi Shrimp Head-On Shell-On recalled in Victoria over chemical contamination risk

A seafood product sold at Asian grocers and independent retailers across Victoria has been recalled over chemical contamination concerns.

Food Standards Australia New Zealand issued the recall for Cooked Scampi Shrimp Head-On Shell-On (1kg), supplied by ASO United Pty Ltd, on Saturday.

The food standards regulator said the affected batch was recalled because it may be contaminated with Nitrofurazone (SEM), a chemical that could cause illness or injury if consumed.

The recall applies to products with a best-before date of March 28, 2028.

Consumers have been urged not to eat the product and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
