If you’re wandering along West Beach, you might notice the sound of Greek music spilling onto the street, drawing you in. The scent of charcoal-roasted meats follows, and suddenly, you’ll find yourself at Vasili’s Table, sipping ouzo, tapping your feet, and settling in for a feast.
The new restaurant, now in its soft-opening stage, and set to officially open on 3 September at 5 West Beach Road, captures the vibrant Greek taverna experience. Right now, you can pop in to sample a limited selection of the menu and get a quick bite to eat, before the full menu launches early next month.

It’s as if the space was tailor made for Vasili’s. Decorative alfresco walls line the outdoor dining spaces, and curving windows accent the interior. Even before the venue took its tenancy, the space showed a lot of promise, but now they’re in, owner Vasilis ‘Billy’ Petropoulos’ vision has well and truly come to life.
“So much planning’s gone into it, and in five months I haven’t seen a day,” Billy laughs. “It’s intense, like any opening, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel now.”
“It’s incredible when you see a space, a vision, and then it all comes together. Everything has been falling into place, and it’s exactly how I hoped it would feel. A hundred percent.”

The fit-out is designed to capture the energy and warmth of Greek celebrations, with great fare, energetic live music, and a joyful atmosphere.
Billy says the venue is already feeling lively even in its soft launch phase. “We’ve got Greek music going, customers chatting away, exploring the veggie garden and meeting the chickens.”
The chickens he refers to are out the back of the restaurant, and just another touch that the venue has added to make it feel like home.
The space itself is expansive, with wooden-panelled interiors, curved dining areas, and floor-to-ceiling windows that make the most of the sun-soaked location. Outdoors, a verandah stage hosts live Greek music, while taverna-style tables and larger setups make it perfect for family meals or celebrations.
Food is at the heart of Vasili’s Table. Once the full menu is available, eight spit souvla will see lamb, chicken, goat, and more roasting over charcoal. For lunch during the soft opening, the team is testing dishes daily, including the grilled chicken Euro-style open plates as shown below.

Vasili’s Table moves into a location with a colourful culinary history, previously home to Salsa Cucina for decades, and more recently Beachside, which closed abruptly last year. Billy’s goal is to make the coastal venue a personal project infused with Greek culture, much like his Croydon restaurant, Billy’s Table.
With a soft launch already serving lunches and coffee, the team is readying the space for its grand opening. “The first week is fully booked, which is super exciting. People from Billy’s Table are coming down to try the menu and see what’s going on over here.”

From the soulful food to the lively music and warm atmosphere, Vasili’s Table is set to be a spirited new addition to Adelaide’s coastal dining scene, where everyone feels like part of the family.
