The two-day All Gippsland Championships were recently held at the Bairnsdale Golf Club.
Day one was a 4BBB event which was taken out by Aaron Morris and Michael Thomas (Leongatha Golf Club), with an impressive score of 66.
They finished one shot ahead of Chris Buckland and Dale Reynolds.
Sale Golf Club’s Gavin Ballinger and John Simic took the handicap section, with 63 nett, finishing one shot ahead of Jacob Brewer and Darren Beggs.
Mixed handicap winners were the South Pines Golf Club combination of Lucy Hausegger and Rohan Dare.
Day two centred around the of the 36-hole stroke event, with 57 players taking to the fairways.
This year’s event was taken out by local gun, Noah Paterson, with a splendid score of 143.
Traralgon Golf Club’s Paul Andrijczak was the runner-up, with a score of 146.
Maffra’s Golf Club’s Cooper Rimington was the All Gippsland junior champion and the Carruthers Shield, East, West and
South junior challenge, was won by Golf East Gippsland.
Thomas (Leongatha) was the Champion of Champions winner and Chris Nott (Yallourn Golf Club) the senior champion.
In the 18-hole events, the morning winners were Andrijczak (“A” grade) and Lakes Entrance Golf Club’s Hunter Douglass (“B” grade).
In the afternoon, the winners were Thomas and Bryson Tanti.
“A” grade All Gippsland Champion was Morris, with the “B” grade champion local youngster, Lachlan McGrath.
The course was presented in magnificent order, a credit to curator Craig Rimington.
It was a local win in the All Gippsland 36 hole stroke event with Bairnsdale star Noah Paterson successful. (PS)
