Emma Raducanu came through two matches and an injury scare to reach the Queen’s final where she will face former Wimbledon semi-finalist Donna Vekic.

Despite having missed a couple of months suffering with a viral illness, Raducanu has the slight edge over Vekic thus far in the season.

 

 

Playing Styles & Prediction

Raducanu’s renewed partnership with Andrew Richardson, the coach who guided her to her landmark US Open win in 2021, has already yielded a solid result. Raducanu overcame weather delays, two matches and even a slight injury scare to book a spot in her third tour final and a first grass court final.

She will face experienced tour veteran Vekic, who progressed in the main draw as a lucky loser. The 2024 Wimbledon semi-finalist knows her way around the green stuff, and even though she had failed to get through qualification and had to take a lucky loser spot, she dispatched Katie Boulter with ease in the semi-final and has only dropped one set on her way to the final.

Vekic has overcome a downturn in the past year or so, which saw her drop out of the Top 100. Raducanu has hauled herself back up the rankings after drifting since her US Open triumph, with injuries and illness all taking their toll.

Statistically she has the slight edge, but will have an enthusiastic crowd behind her, which will hopefully carry over the line to a second career title.

Prediction: Raducanu in three sets.
