Brisbane Broncos off-contract star Jesse Arthars is weighing up a move to Super League for the 2027 season.
According to The Australian, Arthars is considering a switch to Catalans Dragons after a contract worth more than $600,000 with the Gold Coast Titans was withdrawn. The offer was reportedly pulled after the outside-back missed a deadline to sign a multi-year deal with the NRL club.
Arthars has since held discussions with Catalans over a potential move and is understood to be keen on the prospect of living and travelling abroad. With more than 100 NRL appearances to his name across stints with Brisbane, New Zealand Warriors and Gold Coast Titans, he is without a deal for 2027.
Reports suggest a contract of up to three years has been discussed, although Arthars would likely need to take a pay cut to secure a move to the south of France.
Meanwhile, Super League-linked Matt Lodge is keen to extend his career in the NRL, having recently been offered to Super League clubs again for 2027, according to Love Rugby League.
He reportedly has interest from two clubs in the northern hemisphere, but the North Queensland Cowboys prop’s preference is to remain in the NRL.
“I am hopeful of staying in the NRL,” he said.
“I have eased my way into this year having a disrupted year last year, but I feel my form has been good for the Cowboys.
“I have played the whole season so far and my body is feeling good.
“The minute I can’t do it anymore, I won’t do it but at the moment I feel like there’s something to offer and I’m enjoying my footy which is the main thing.”
