Round Seven – Misano – Sunday
Nicolò Bulega completed a Misano hat-trick to make it 21 wins from 21 WorldSBK races this season, while Albert Arenas, David Salvador and Maria Herrera also claimed Sunday victories.
Nicolò Bulega completed a dream home weekend at Misano, sweeping all three WorldSBK races and continuing one of the most extraordinary winning runs the championship has seen.

The Aruba.it Racing – Ducati rider added victory in Sunday morning’s Superpole Race and Sunday afternoon’s Race 2 to his Saturday Race 1 triumph, leaving the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli with a perfect haul from the Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round.
Bulega has now won all 21 WorldSBK races held so far in 2026, and 25 in succession including the final four races of last season. Race 2 also marked his seventh hat-trick of the season, the first time a rider has achieved seven triple wins in a single WorldSBK campaign.
It was also a landmark weekend for his place in Italian WorldSBK history, with Bulega moving past Marco Melandri for the most podiums by an Italian rider in the championship.
Iker Lecuona again followed him home in both Sunday races, while Yari Montella completed the podium in both to seal a remarkable three third-place finishes from three starts at his home round.
In the support categories, Albert Arenas struck back in WorldSSP to extend his championship lead, David Salvador won a WorldSPB thriller by just 0.039s over Australia’s Carter Thompson, and Maria Herrera again held off Beatriz Neila in WorldWCR, this time by only 0.075s.

Carter Thompson was again the standout Australian performer, backing up Saturday’s WorldSPB podium with second place on Sunday. He missed victory by just 0.039s and leaves Misano having been in the victory fight in both Sportbike races.

Remy Gardner rebounded from his Saturday crash with eighth in WorldSBK Race 2, his best result of the season so far. The GYTR GRT Yamaha rider had finished 13th in the Superpole Race before moving forward in the longer race.
Oli Bayliss had a mixed WorldSSP weekend. Seventh on Saturday was a strong result, but Sunday proved harder in the heat and he finished 16th.

Tayla Relph’s WorldWCR Race 2 ended in frustration after the opening-lap Turn 8 incident, while Taiyo Aksu finished 18th in WorldSPB Race 2 on the PATA AG Motorsport Italia Honda CBR600RR.

WorldSBK Race Two
Bulega seals seventh hat-trick
Race 2 was not quite as straightforward at the start as Bulega’s lights-to-flag official lead suggests.

Lecuona attacked early and challenged through the opening half-lap, but Bulega regained control and led all 21 laps. Once clear, he began to apply the pressure, and the decisive moment came on lap five. Bulega set the fastest lap of the race, a 1m32.735s, while Lecuona ran off at Turn 12, leaving the Italian with a more comfortable buffer.

From there, Bulega controlled the race to win by 5.101 seconds. His 21st win from 21 races this season drew him level with Toprak Razgatlioglu’s 2025 season total for the second-highest number of wins in a single WorldSBK campaign, behind Alvaro Bautista’s 27 in 2023.

Lecuona finished second for the 18th consecutive race, extending a record streak of runner-up finishes, while also helping deliver another Aruba.it Racing – Ducati one-two.

The battle for third was the main unresolved question for much of the race. Bassani had moved into the podium position early and looked set for a first Misano podium since 2023, keeping Montella at bay despite constant pressure.
Axel Bassani and Andrea Locatelli were among the riders fighting inside the top ten on Sunday at Misano.
But on lap 17, Bassani lost the front at Turn 8, La Quercia, while running third. He rejoined briefly but returned to pit lane and retired, ending what had been one of his strongest weekends of the season.
Montella inherited third and brought the Barni Spark Racing Team Ducati home for his third podium of the weekend. After the Aragon disappointment, Misano became an important reset: three races, three third places, and a move back to third in the championship.

Alex Lowes started from tenth after his Superpole Race retirement but recovered strongly to finish fourth for bimota, while Tarran Mackenzie claimed an excellent fifth, his best dry-weather WorldSBK result. Alberto Surra was sixth for Motocorsa Racing, extending his points-scoring run, with Andrea Locatelli again leading Yamaha home in seventh.
Remy Gardner completed a much better Sunday afternoon for GYTR GRT Yamaha by finishing eighth, his best WorldSBK result of the season. Michael van der Mark was ninth for ROKiT BMW after a late fight with Sam Lowes, the pair split by just 0.037s at the line.
Garrett Gerloff and Remy Gardner were part of the Sunday WorldSBK points battle at Misano.
Xavi Vierge finished 11th, only 0.017s ahead of Garrett Gerloff, while Somkiat Chantra took 13th for Honda HRC, his best WorldSBK result so far. Lorenzo Baldassarri recovered to 15th after stopping with a technical issue and rejoining, salvaging a point from a race that had promised much more on pace.
There was early attrition. Alvaro Bautista crashed at Turn 8 on lap one after contact, Bahattin Sofuoglu crashed at Turn 13 on lap two, and Oliveira retired after seven laps. BMW later framed Oliveira’s Race 2 exit as a consequence of his remaining physical limitations during his comeback weekend, after the Portuguese rider had taken eighth in Race 1 and sixth in the Superpole Race.
After seven rounds, Bulega leads the WorldSBK championship on 434 points, 121 clear of Lecuona. Montella is third on 170, ahead of Alex Lowes on 156, Sam Lowes on 148 and Bassani on 128.

WorldSBK Superpole Race
Bulega makes it 20 from 20
Bulega started Sunday by converting pole position into another victory in the 10-lap Superpole Race, taking the chequered flag 1.133 seconds clear of Lecuona.
The result made it 20 wins from 20 WorldSBK races in 2026 at that point, and also pushed Bulega’s overall winning streak to 24 races. He led all ten laps according to the official timing sheet and set a new race lap record of 1m31.945s on lap four.
Lecuona was closer in the sprint than he had been in Race 1, keeping Bulega honest in the early laps, but the Italian gradually edged away to bank another full set of Sunday morning points.
Montella took third, 7.422s from the win, giving Ducati another top-three lockout and ensuring the front row for Race 2 would be Bulega, Lecuona and Montella.
Axel Bassani finished fourth for bimota at the manufacturer’s home round, ahead of Lorenzo Baldassarri and Miguel Oliveira. Oliveira’s sixth was a strong result in his comeback weekend after injury, and it put him onto the second row for Race 2.
Miguel Oliveira completed a determined WorldSBK comeback weekend at Misano with ROKiT BMW.
Alberto Surra crossed the line in fifth but was penalised for an unsafe rejoin and dropped to seventh, behind Baldassarri and Oliveira. Andrea Locatelli was eighth for Yamaha, with Tarran Mackenzie ninth and Stefano Manzi tenth.
Alex Lowes had been running fourth before retiring with a technical issue, while Sam Lowes crashed at Turn 4, Tommy Bridewell went down at Turn 2, and Xavi Vierge crashed at Turn 16.

Arenas responds with dominant win
After being beaten on the final lap in Race 1, Albert Arenas responded perfectly in Sunday’s second WorldSSP race.
Albert Arenas returned to the top step at Misano and extended his WorldSSP championship lead.
The AS BLU CRU Racing Team rider led all 18 laps at Misano, controlling the race from the front and taking his fourth win of the season by 1.976 seconds over Tom Booth-Amos.
Valentin Debise, Tom Booth-Amos and Can Öncü were among the front-group contenders in WorldSSP Race 2 at Misano.
Arenas had been frustrated by three consecutive second places, but Race 2 was much cleaner from his side. With less headwind down the straight and a stronger rhythm from the start, he was able to build a gap and manage the race on his terms.
Aldi Satya Mahendra ran strongly in the lead group before taking third in WorldSSP Race 2.
Booth-Amos was one of the Sunday standouts. The PTR Triumph rider had finished fourth on Saturday after a final-lap battle with Can Öncü and Jaume Masia, then backed that up with second place on Sunday, his best result of the season so far. He moved past Aldi Satya Mahendra and then held him off to the flag.

Mahendra completed the podium in third, giving AS BLU CRU Racing Team a double podium. The Indonesian had shown front-group pace early and set the fastest lap of the race on lap five with a 1m37.518s, but eventually had to settle for third behind Booth-Amos.

Masia finished fourth for Orelac Racing Verdnatura, while Jeremy Alcoba produced one of the rides of the race for Kawasaki WorldSSP Team, climbing from 19th on the grid to fifth. Mattia Casadei was sixth, ahead of Matteo Ferrari and Filippo Farioli.
Tom Booth-Amos held off Aldi Satya Mahendra to take second place in WorldSSP Race 2.
Race 1 winner Valentin Debise started from pole but could not reproduce Saturday’s late-race pace. He was classified ninth after a penalty, ahead of Öncü in tenth.

Salvador beats Thompson by 0.039s
WorldSPB again produced one of the races of the day, with David Salvador snatching victory after a frantic 12-lap scrap in which the lead changed repeatedly.
The Team ProDina Kawasaki XCI rider beat Australian Carter Thompson by just 0.039s, with birthday boy Fenton Seabright third only 0.148s from the win.
The WorldSPB field charges through the opening lap at Misano, setting up another frantic 12-lap contest.
The lap chart reflected the constant movement at the front. Salvador led the first two laps, Seabright led lap three, Salvador was back ahead on lap four, Thompson led laps five to eight, Salvador reclaimed the lead on laps nine and ten, Seabright led lap 11, and Salvador hit the front again on the final lap.
David Salvador and Fenton Seabright were central to the WorldSPB victory fight at Misano.
The Turn 8 and Curvone sequence became central to the race. Salvador was strong on the brakes at Turn 8, while Thompson repeatedly fought back through Curvone. On the final lap, Salvador made the decisive move stick and held Thompson off by less than half a tenth of a second.
Fenton Seabright led part of the WorldSPB Race 2 fight before finishing third at Misano.
Thompson’s second place backed up his Saturday podium and was another excellent result for the Team BrCorse rider. Across the two Misano races, the Australian finished third and second, and again stood out as the leading Yamaha rider in the class. He also recorded the equal-best race speed-trap figure at 214.3 km/h.

Seabright completed the podium for PHR Performance Triumph, making amends for Saturday’s penalty-hit result. His third place also rounded out a strong weekend for Triumph after Bruno Ieraci had given the Daytona 660 its first WorldSPB win in Race 1.
David Salvador topped the WorldSPB Race 2 podium ahead of Carter Thompson and Fenton Seabright.
Filippo Bianchi finished fourth to complete an impressive wildcard weekend, ahead of Xavi Artigas and Jeffrey Buis. Matteo Vannucci set a new race lap record of 1m42.697s on lap nine but finished seventh after earlier losing ground.

Antonio Torres originally featured further up the order but was classified tenth after a three-second penalty for irresponsible riding. Ieraci’s Sunday ended almost immediately when he crashed at Turn 3 on the opening lap, while Loris Veneman was also out after another incident early in the race.
Salvador’s win extended his championship lead. After five of eight rounds, he heads the standings on 164 points, ahead of Torres on 130 and Artigas on 129.

Herrera and Neila clear out again
WorldWCR again became a two-race contest at Misano: Maria Herrera and Beatriz Neila fighting for the win, and everyone else battling over the final podium place well behind them.
Herrera led all 12 laps according to the official timing sheet, although she had to work all the way to the line. Paola Ramos launched well, but Herrera was back in control by Turn 2, and from there only Neila could stay with her.
Neila kept the pressure on through the second half of the race and looked for a way through in the final stages, but Herrera defended and won by just 0.075s. The double victory gave Herrera a perfect 50-point Misano weekend and lifted her championship tally to 181 points.
Neila’s second place was her 22nd consecutive WorldWCR podium, extending her own record streak, and she remains second in the championship on 157 points.
As on Saturday, the gap from the leading pair to the rest was stark. Muklada Sarapuech finished third, but she was 13.072s behind Herrera despite the race being only 12 laps long. That was still much closer than the Race 1 split, but it again underlined the pace advantage Herrera and Neila held over the field.
Sarapuech’s third place was a major breakthrough. After losing a Race 1 podium to a penalty, the Thai rookie delivered on Sunday to claim her first WorldWCR podium and become the first Thai rider to finish on a WorldWCR rostrum.
Roberta Ponziani started from pole and held third for much of the race, but missed the podium by just 0.151s. Ramos recovered to fifth after dropping ground early, while Yvonne Cerpa completed the top six. Sara Sanchez was seventh, Natalia Rivera eighth, Joy Bruno ninth after serving a long lap penalty from Race 1, and Race 1 podium finisher Chloe Jones tenth after a double long-lap penalty for a jump start.
Australian Tayla Relph’s race was effectively over almost immediately. The official timing sheet records a Turn 8 crash on the opening lap, followed by a return to pit lane and a later rejoin. Relph later said via social media that she had been taken out into Turn 8, the team repaired the bike in pit lane, and she rejoined before retiring once there was no longer any chance of a red-flag restart.
Herrera now leads the championship on 181 points from Neila on 157, with Ramos third on 97, Ponziani fourth on 89 and Sarapuech fifth on 83.
