The Princess of Wales was seen gushing over her husband Prince William as he rode on horseback at Trooping the Colour, with a lip reader revealing a cheeky four-word comment she couldn’t help but utter.
Members of the Royal Family stepped out in their best attire for Trooping the Colour at Buckingham Palace on Saturday.
Princess Catherine had eyes only for her husband, Prince William, who rode on horseback for the proceedings in Full Ceremonial Guard Order wearing the Welsh Guards regalia, and she made her admiration known.
Professional lip reader Nicola Hickling told the Daily Mail that Princess Catherine – who arrived in a horse-drawn carriage accompanied by her three children – said to Prince George: “He looks so handsome riding in his uniform”.
Prince George was left seemingly embarrassed by the affectionate comment towards his father, prompting Kate to double down, adding: “I think it’s gorgeous, George.”
Members of the public appeared to agree with the Princess of Wales’ sentiment, with some taking to social media to say so themselves.
One user on X posted a slow-motion video of Prince William riding on horseback, writing: “Prince William on a horse and in uniform. Is it hot in here, or is it just me?”
“That slow motion by His Royal Hotness …it’s definitely hot hot hot,” another user replied.
“Oh, be still my beating heart,” wrote another.
A third commented: “His Royal Hotness… best looking Prince of EVER.”
The couple, who met at St Andrews University in 2001, are often viewed as the perfect pairing in the eyes of the public, yet are known to keep their public displays of affection to a minimum.
Following the precedent set during Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, the pair, who have been married for 15 years, tend to keep their marital life separate from public duties in order to keep the focus on their charitable and constitutional duties.
In a rare moment during a reception marking the 125th anniversary of the charity Cancer Research UK, Princess Catherine made a sweet comment about Prince William.
While meeting singer Ronan Keating and his wife Storm, Keating said to Kate in reference to Prince William, “We love him.”
Kate replied: “So do I.”
Although the pair rarely hold hands in public, Prince William has his own way of showing affection towards his wife, and is often seen placing his hand on her lower back.
The relationship began with a friendship at university, before developing into a romance.
Prince William later admitted in an interview with ITV News that he “knew there was something very special” about Kate from the moment they met.
After a brief split in 2007, during which Kate reportedly struggled with the media attention surrounding the relationship, the couple reunited and married in 2011, in a ceremony attended by around 1,900 guests.
