Newcastle is gearing up to host the grand final of the Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship presented by Monster Energy in 2026.
Organisers released details this week that McDonald Jones Stadium was locked in to stage the prestigious decider on 28 November.
The event, supported by the NSW Government through Destination NSW and proudly backed by City of Newcastle (CN), will bring thousands of fans, teams and industry stakeholders to the Hunter for the finale of Australia’s largest domestic motorcycle championship series.
AUSX CEO Adam Bailey said the former steel city had become synonymous with some of the sport’s most memorable moments.
“Newcastle has consistently delivered incredible crowds, atmosphere and support for Supercross, making it the perfect home for our grand final,” he stated.
“And, concluding a championship season spanning Australia and New Zealand, means every point will build toward one epic night in Newcastle.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support of Destination NSW and CN.
“Their commitment to the AUSX Supercross Championship has helped establish Newcastle as one of the sport’s premier destinations and makes events like the grand final possible.
“When the gate drops, the pressure, excitement and emotion of an entire season will come to a massive crescendo in Newcastle.
“So, we have no doubt the Newcastle fans will show up in full force… and celebrate the crowning of some of the world’s best racers.”
Minister for Sport and Minister for Jobs and Tourism Steve Kamper admitted it was a coup for the region.
“The NSW Government is proud to support the 2026 AUSX Supercross Championship grand final coming to McDonald Jones Stadium,” he said.
“This is where champions are crowned… and there is no better home for it.
“Newcastle has proven time and again it can deliver a world-class sporting spectacle.
And, this grand final will be no different.
“Thousands of fans, elite riders and non-stop action, all in the Hunter, supporting local businesses and showcasing everything regional NSW has to offer.”
The crowd can expect to see the best Australian and international riders battling for glory, as well as the Monster Energy Fan Fest, and a full stadium spectacle.
