When it comes to Los Angeles Lakers free agency, LeBron James will be the headliner of the offseason. Of course, the 41-year-old will have a limited market of teams looking to contend right away.
Fellow Laker Austin Reaves, on the other hand, is only 28 years old and will reportedly have a strong overall market in free agency. A return to L.A. will certainly be possible, but it won’t be his only option.
According to Dan Woike of The Athletic, the Brooklyn Nets are atop Reaves’ list of likely suitors.
“Multiple front-office sources around the league, granted anonymity to freely discuss an opposing player, expect Reaves to have interest from the Brooklyn Nets, with a four-year, $178.5 million contract expected to be offered,” Woike wrote. “…League sources said the Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks are among a group of interested teams.”
It’ll be interesting to see how high Reaves’ price point rises on the open market because that will likely determine if the Lakers are able and willing to retain him.
According to Kurt Helin of NBC Sports, re-signing Reaves “is at the top of the Lakers’ offseason to-do list.”
