Influencers strike again and ruin a big surprise…

Battlefield 6 looks set to be revealed by EA in late July, though an early care package sent to an influencer has thrown a wrench in the publisher’s plans.

First posted to social media by YouTuber DooM49 — and now deleted — EA is allegedly sending out care packages to influencers ahead of a three-day Battlefield 6 reveal that will start on 29 July.

“Holy you guys! [Battlefield] just sent me this massive Battlefield 6 case in the mail,” the influencer wrote, attaching a “SponsoredbyEA” hashtag.

“Content creators are receiving packages from EA,” Battlefield content creator rivaLxfactor added. “Battlefield 6 will be the title name and the preview to the world will probably be by the end of the month.”

Battlefield 2042 was the latest iteration of the long-running franchise, and wasn’t received well by critics or fans.

“In a world where developers are getting used to working from home and games are being pushed back due to the global pandemic, EA decided that Battlefield 2042 was ready for this year,” Luke wrote in our 4.5/10 review. “It’s not. More time is needed to fix a lot of the problems, but even then that might not be enough to save it from being one of the most lacklustre Battlefield titles yet.”

“If this Battlefield ends up being rushed or another botch job like 2042 it is over,” rivaLxfactor added.
