Three women win the approval of SAS Directing Staff on Seven series.
Australian Olympian Emily Seebohm and UK TV personalities Dani Dyer and Gabby Allen ‘passed selection’ after a final interrogation challenge of SAS: Aus v Eng.
In the season finale British rugby legend Ben Cohen MBE and Australian Olympic swimmer Mack Horton both withdrew from the course, leaving Dani, Gabby and Emily as the final participants standing.
Chief Instructor Billy Billingham said: “Eight days ago you came from both sides of the world. Fourteen arrived. Three stand before us. Just because you stand on the finish line doesn’t mean you’ve passed this course.”
But after pausing he said, “It’s a rare moment to say congratulations to all three of you. You’ve passed this course.”
Emily Seebohm said, “I couldn’t have been prouder of the girls. We spent the whole time lifting each other up and reminding ourselves how strong we were. Every time I struggled, I pictured my son in his dinosaur pyjamas. I could see him so clearly, and it gave me strength.”
This season on Seven has faced its own challenges, with viewers struggling to recognise many of the UK cast, as well as heavy competition from State of Origin and results having been online after the UK broadcast. It may be sometime before the SAS franchise returns to screen.
