Cases of Influenza A (Swine Flu) infection were detected yesterday in the Internal Medicine Department of the Marmeleiros Hospital, prompting SESARAM to activate infection prevention and control measures.
In a statement, the Health Service reveals that “cases have been identified among patients and healthcare professionals, and all procedures and protocols foreseen for this type of occurrence have been immediately activated.”
“The teams implemented the appropriate prevention and control measures, namely in terms of isolating cases, strengthening security conditions and clinical monitoring, in accordance with current best practices, including restricting and monitoring visits as a preventive measure,” assures SESARAM.
The entity responsible adds that “the monitoring is being ensured continuously by the competent teams, with constant surveillance of the situation’s evolution.”
SESARAM emphasizes that “strict adherence to Infection Prevention and Control measures is crucial to limiting the transmission of the Influenza virus in hospitals, protecting patients and healthcare professionals, and ensuring the continuity and safety of care provided.”
“It is important to emphasize that, to date, the operation of services remains regular, with no impact on the care provided to users,” it concludes.
