Following a new Battlefield 6 leak, players are learning more about the shooter game’s nine launch maps. Two of the maps are considerably larger than the condensed playtest settings. Some players had feared that Battlefield 6 would lack the massive environments that encourage careful planning.

One common complaint during the Battlefield 6 playtest has been its cramped maps. The tight quarters lead to quicker kills and less strategizing than expected from the franchise. Producer David Sirland reassured players that larger maps would debut on the October 10th Battlefield 6 release date. Now, thanks to a dedicated dataminer, gamers have a better understanding of the scope of these areas.

The 1BF Telegram channel shared the latest Battlefield 6 leak. Using files analyzed by Redditor Happysufigeee, illustrations compare Mirak Valley and Eastwood to existing maps. EA already confirmed that out of the nine launch maps, Mirak Valley would be the largest. Players can roam 0.588 square kilometers, which should allow for strategizing and flanking enemies. It’s also a massive area when contrasted with one of the playtest settings, the Siege of Cairo.

Eastwood is more mysterious, since it’s not expected to appear in the initial retail version. Happysufigeee expects that the California-based map will arrive as part of Season 1 content. The datamined files suggest that Eastwood will have a bridge for teams to focus on.

Producer David Sirland explained that the battlegrounds in the Battlefield 6 playtest are intentionally compact. The smaller maps encourage more engagement between players. They also may reveal potential bugs that aren’t obvious in slower-paced gameplay. Nevertheless, some fans worry that the shooter game has become too casual.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will likely release in November, with the series often viewed as more accessible than its rival. However, many Battlefield 6 testers have no interest in a title that strives for instant gratification. Other features, like flick look to rotate players 180 degrees, could also oversimplify the game’s mechanics.

Regardless of any concerns, the massive participation in the Battlefield 6 playtest is a promising sign for its future.
