South Sydney superstar Latrell Mitchell left training early on Monday morning in a worrying sign for Rabbitohs and Blues supporters hoping to see him in the Origin decider.

Mitchell missed the first two games of the series with a back injury but was set to return for the Bunnies against Parramatta on Thursday to prove his fitness for a potential Origin return.

The world’s best centre started Monday’s training session with his teammates but headed back inside after about 30 minutes with no word on what the issue was.

A Rabbitohs official was contacted but didn’t have any information, with players to speak later on Monday to explain what happened.

Mitchell appeared on Fox League’s Sunday Night with Matty Johns last night and told Johns he expects to return from a back injury against the Eels.

“Yeah it’s (the recovery) been good. Been doing a bit of swimming, pilates,” Mitchell said.

“I’ll be pushing to play this week. See if Wayne has a position for me.”
