LA Lakers star LeBron James has chosen not to include Golden State Warriors basketball player Steph Curry when asked which player could one day surpass his NBA scoring record.

James, 40, is considered one of the greatest players in NBA history, drawing comparisons to legends like Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant. He has had a career that spans more than two decades and continues to do so, representing the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and now the Lakers.

During his career, James is a four-time NBA champion and four-time NBA Finals MVP, and has also won the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) award four times. He has also won three Olympic gold medals with the United States in Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Paris 2024.

In February 2023, James made history by surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record for the most points in the NBA, which was 38,387 points. James currently has a total of 42,184 points.

The next highest-scoring active player is Kevin Durant with 30,571 points, ranked 8th on the all-time list. Durant has won two NBA titles with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018 and has also played for the Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns and currently the Houston Rockets.

When asked in 2023 which player could surpass his record, James mentioned Durant and not Curry:

“KD is the first one that comes to mind. They don’t call him ‘Easy Money’ and ‘Slim Reaper’ for nothing. He scores effortlessly. His ability to shoot three-pointers, mid-range shots and drive to the basket, as well as his 85-90% accuracy from free throws, are key elements.”

Curry currently ranks 24th on the all-time scoring list with 25,386 points. He has won four NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors (2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022), is a two-time NBA MVP, and was the NBA Finals MVP in 2022. /GazetaExpress/
